About

Developing a collection of precious stones, portraits and landscapes.

The gems are painted using techniques including a monochromatic palette and modernism while exploring texture, value, color and shape. The collection expresses light as the line through the gem.

Seen on request: The portraits (in development) are painted with a moment and an exhibit in mind. The moment: I saw light hit an iris creating a dramatic highlight entering the eye from the left which seemingly poured a shadow out of the pupil. The exhibit: Larry Bell and John Chamberlain at Hauser and Wirth in Los Angeles this summer, 2022. The collection uses color theory to combine colors in an intensifying and/or harmonizing way.

Landscapes are painted as a release from the structure and measured specificity of the diamonds, emeralds and sapphires.

Enjoy!
